[New Newsletter] Newsletter Moditech July 2010 | Limburg-Noord safety region (Netherlands) utilizes the Crash Recovery System with success

Recently an accident involving an LPG-powered vehicle occurred in the Limburg-Noord Safety Region in the Netherlands. The Moditech Crash Recovery System served as an excellent tool for responding rescuers. In this newsletter, you will find a brief description of the accident and information on how the Crash Recovery System was used to aid in a safe extrication for both the victims and rescuers. In the most recent software update, several improvements have been made to the CRS. When accessing the CRS by entering the license plate, the characters will be displayed on the results set to insure accuracy. And we have added enhancements to make it easier to browse the database.

[New message] Fire fighters in Millcreek Township have integrated the Crash Recovery System

Fire fighters with the West Ridge, West Lake and Belle Valley departments have digitalized their rescue tools with mobile data computers equipped with the Crash Recovery System. The reactions are very positive. By scanning the VIN number immediate access to the vehicle information is guaranteed. Chief Dan Ouellet of the West Ridge Fire Department is hoping that other fire departments will soon follow.

Already since 2001 security region Rotterdam has been active with the implementation of the Crash Recovery System. They have become experience experts within the past 10 years. In this newsletter an interview with Mario Groenendijk of common fire department Rotterdam/Netherlands. Moreover Moditech Rescue Solutions will have a new software version of the Crash Recovery System available in the near future. With new components, compatibility for Windows 7 and a new language has been added: Hebrew.

The Moditech Crash Recovery System (CRS) is a valuable tool for rescuers to extricate victims from crashed vehicles. Because the often lack of late-model vehicles to train on, it is not always possible to practise 'live' with the CRS. Moditech addressed this issue last year by introducing the Crash Recovery System magnetic label set. This range of accessories is now extended by introducing a new re-writeable license plate magnet set. Furthermore the Moditech website has been updated with an article about training ideas.

In 2014 all new vehicles must be equipped with e-Call: a black box in the vehicle that automatically connects with the emergency alarm center after a crash. During this process, important information about the location , speed and drive direction is transmitted directly to the alarm center. Also, information about deployed airbags and number of occupants is included. Since the initiative in 2005, Moditech is an active member of the European board that is responsible for the e-Call developments in Europe.

Moditech Rescue Solutions is continuously monitoring the automotive market for new developments that could affect emergency response to vehicle accidents or car fires.
Alternative fuels and alternative propulsion are among the biggest challenges responders will be facing in the near future.
The Crash Recovery System is already prepared to show vehicles with alternative propulsion and therefore the decision was made to introduce the first two hydrogen-powered vehicles to the CRS database, well knowing that these vehicles are not really produced in series.

Sat.1 Automagazin, a weekly magazine of the german TV Station Sat.1 broadcasted a report about the difficulties emergency responders are faced during vehicle extrication on modern vehicles on Saturday, June 7th 2008. As a possible solution, the broadcast also showed the Crash Recovery System.

From now on the CRS in the USA and Canada is available in a new edition. In addition to the manual selection, this edition allows the selection of the vehicle by entering the 17-digit VIN number into the Crash Recovery System.

[New message] Right hand drive database and license selection for the UK

Since 2006, Moditech has sold the Crash Recovery System to many Fire Services in the UK. Till now, the database contained information for all Left Hand Drive (LHD) European vehicles. The LHD information sometimes causes some inconsistencies in battery and safety sensor locations when compared to the RHD vehicles on the UK market.

Dear Moditech customer,

Welcome to our newsletter of February 2008. In this newsletter we would like to inform you about the latest developments and product improvements at Moditech. The first topic in this issue is the development of a completely new Right Hand Drive (RHD) database with license code selection for the Crash Recovery System users in the UK. We have started the development of the RHD database for passenger vehicles and vans this month upon numerous requests from customers and interested parties in the UK. This addition to the Crash Recovery System database will ensure that we have the best safety information available for the Rescue Services in the UK. On top of that, selection of the correct vehicle model will become error-free, quick and easy via the license plate number of the vehicle! The second topic in our newsletter is the release of the VIN edition for North-America. With this edition of the Crash Recovery System, the Rescue Workers are able to enter or scan the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the crashed vehicle. This makes selection of the correct model and year extremely simple and error-free. Read on to learn more about both subjects in this newsletter!

[New reference] Crash Recovery System sucessfully used at a vehicle accident in Zuzwil (Switzerland)

Shortly before midnight on Friday, May 5th 2006 the regional fire department Wil (Switzerland) has been dispatched to motor vehicle accident in Zuzwil. Two passenger cars collided, whereas the passenger of the car that caused the accident became trapped in the vehicle. Five people were injured, thereof one with severe injuries.

On the morning of December 27th 2007 a severe motor vehicle accident between a tractor trailer and a passenger car occurred on the road between the motorway exit Wil and Rickenbach (Switzerland). The driver of the car have been trapped in her car and had to be extricated by members of Feuerwehr Region Wil.

The passenger car got over the centre line of the four lane road and collided with the oncoming tractor trailer, who could not avoid the collision. The 36 year old female driver of the car suffered severe injuries and was trapped in the car.
