CRS Case study: electric bus crashes into house
In an accident in Castrop-Rauxel, Germany, an electric bus crashed into the corner of a house for as yet unknown reasons. When the emergency services arrived, it quickly became clear that the bus driver was trapped and one passenger was in the middle of the bus, both seriously injured.
Since it was clearly an electric bus that had hit the utility room with the house’s power and water pipes, the emergency services faced a considerable challenge in freeing the two victims.
Fortunately, this BYD bus is available in the Crash Recovery System database. By looking up the bus, technical assistance, therefore, had easy access to the correct interactive Rescue Sheet containing, in addition to the vehicle drawings, all crucial information such as safety components and the deactivation method. This enabled a quick and safe freeing of the victims.
The bus driver and the passenger were freed and transported to a nearby hospital; the fire brigade handed the electric BYD bus to a recovery company.
