CRS Preview: Trailers category in the CRS.
With the addition of two trailers to the Crash Recovery System database, a careful start has been made to an entirely new vehicle category – Trailers. These trailers can currently be found under Special Vehicles, but will also be visible in the Trailers category after the next software release.
First of its kind
First was the Pacton Energy Trailer, which became the first trailer available in the CRS with the September database update. This trailer was fitted with an Addvolt battery pack by Groot RMO Techniek. This battery pack is charged by an axle generator and takes care of charging the truck mounted forklift.
Solar panels
With the October database update, a second very special trailer has been added. It is an 18-metre long Scania semi-trailer that is fitted with 140 square metres of solar panels on both the roof and sides. The trailer is designed for use with Scania Plug-in Hybrid trucks to reduce fossil fuel consumption. Depending on the environment in which the truck travels with the trailer, fuel savings of 5-20 per cent are possible.
