Display of airbag symbols according to ISO-standard
This month we changed the display of the airbag components!
Moditech Rescue Solutions has been part of the ISO-17840 working group for many years. This project group strives together with manufacturers, importers and specialists from the rescue industry for an unambiguous information source for first responders. This has led to an ISO-17840 standard that incorporates many components and color coding from the Crash Recovery System.
RED-EDGED AIRBAG
Moditech will gradually implement this ISO standard at vehicles displayed in our Crash Recovery System. Various CRS components have been taken over, however, in a different color coding as used previously in the CRS. An example is the airbags. The color of the airbag components will become slightly darker and up from the February update in 2021, they will get a red border. The red border indicates that first responders should pay extra attention and not drill, sharpen or cut the airbag unit.
BLACK-RIMD AIRBAG
We display the curtain airbag and belt airbag with a black border. These airbags can be cut as there is no gas generator present at the location of the curtain airbag.
DOUBLE-EDGED AIRBAG
The two-stage airbag where a second deployment can still occur after activation of the first stage gets a second red edge.
Below are two images of the old and new display of the Mercedes-Benz S-class airbags including the seat belt airbag.
