First, fully electric motorhomes added to the Crash Recovery System
In recent months, countless motorhomes of different brands have been added to the Crash Recovery System database, all with a combustion engine. This has changed with the addition of the electric e-Fixxter and e-Fixxter XXL motorhomes from the Netherlands.
The basis of these compact motorhomes is the chassis of a model from the PSA Group (Peugeot Expert, Toyota Proace or Opel Vivaro). The body is made motorhome-ready by VDL and provided with extra reinforcement in the roof.
The powertrain consists of an electric motor of 100 kW or 136 hp. A lithium-ion battery pack of 75 kW is responsible for a range of about 250 km. There are many solar panels on the e-Fixxter’s retractable roof to recharge this battery pack. 100% electric has been the departure point, so cooking or heating is done via the extra-large 200 Ah household battery or the grid. However, many e-Fixxters are also still equipped with gas cylinders, which are displayed in the CRS.
The motorhomes are also available as Fixxter and Fixxter XXL and have a diesel combustion engine. In addition, Fixxter is working on a hydrogen variant, which is scheduled to be available in 2023 and will be marketed under H2-Fixxter.
Points of attention for first responders
For first responders, the reinforcement in the roof, the lithium-ion battery pack, the gas bottles and the solar panels are essential points of attention. These and other components can all be found in the CRS rescue sheet. The e-Fixxters are available in the Crash Recovery System after downloading the most recent database update from November 2022.
