Important new software release

Important software update for Windows, Android and iOS

During this Corona Pandemic, our programmers worked very hard on creating a new release for all our software versions. On February 1st, we will be releasing a completely new version of both Windows, iOS and Android.

We are currently in a transition to further streamline our development so that we can support continuous integration and deployment. This implicates that you will see much more frequent CRS App/Software updates from now on. That is why we urge all our users to install the latest version as soon as possible.

WINDOWS
The most significant changes are made in our software for Windows. This completely new version will replace all current Windows editions (both Windows 32-bit as Windows UWP).
In this new version (suitable for installation on both 32-bits and 64-bits Windows operating systems), many improvements have been made that were already visible in our Apps:

  • Improved layout
  • Multiple text improvements in 18 languages
  • New categories of special vehicles, motor homes, two-wheelers and agricultural vehicles
  • Automatic number plate decoding with OCR function
  • Automatic database updates
  • Easy installation capabilities via MDM systems


Users of our Crash Recovery System for Windows must replace their current installation with the new release as database updates will not be released for previous Windows versions, and we will be phasing out support for Windows 32-bit and Windows UWP!


Steps for installation of the new Windows version:

  1. Remove the current license code from your device via settings > license management > ‘remove subscription’ (make sure you save the licence code for activation of the new software).
  2. Remove the CRS software totally from the device.
  3. Install the latest version of CRS for Windows.
  4. Activate the licence by entering the licence code after installing the software.
  5. Make sure you download the complete new database, this may take approximately 20 minutes. A good and stable Internet connection is therefore mandatory!


ANDROID
To ensure continuous deployment for our Crash Recovery System for Android, the App is now distributed solely through the Google Play Store. We also made significant changes in the Android Version:

  • Multiple text improvements in 18 languages
  • New categories of special vehicles, motor homes, two-wheelers and agricultural vehicles
  • Easy installation capabilities via MDM systems


Users of our Crash Recovery System for Android must replace their current installation with the new release to ensure future automatic updates and access the above-mentioned improvements!


Steps for installation of the new Android version:

  1. Remove the current license code from your device via settings > license management > ‘remove subscription’ (make sure you save the licence code for activation of the new software).
  2. Remove the CRS App totally from the device.
  3. Retrieve a password for your licence code at support@moditech.com.
  4. Download and install the latest version of CRS for Android from the Play Store.
  5. Activate the licence by entering the licence code as your username and the password retrieved from our support desk.
  6. Make sure you download the complete new database, this may take approximately 20 minutes. A good and stable Internet connection is therefore mandatory!

STOP SUPPORT FOR ANDROID 5, 6 & 7
To be able to support the latest Android versions we will stop supporting Android 5, 6 & 7. Users from devices with this Android Version need to upgrade their operating system and download the latest version of our App at the upgraded device following the procedure described.


iOS
To ensure continuous deployment for our Crash Recovery System on iOS, the current App in the Appstore is replaced with a new Version. The following improvements are included:

  • Multiple text improvements in 18 languages
  • New categories of special vehicles, motor homes, two-wheelers and agricultural vehicles
  • Easy installation capabilities via MDM systems


Users of our Crash Recovery System for iOS must replace their current installation with the new release to ensure future automatic updates and access the above-mentioned improvements!


Steps for installation of the new iOS version:

  1. Remove the current license code from your device via settings > my crash recovery system or licence management > ‘unsubscribe’ or ‘remove subscription’ (make sure you save the licence code for activation of the new software).
  2. Remove the CRS App totally from the device.
  3. Retrieve a password for your licence code at support@moditech.com if you do not have one yet.
  4. Download and install the latest version of CRS for iOS from the App Store.
  5. Activate the licence by entering the licence code as your username and the corresponding password.
  6. Make sure you download the complete new database, this may take approximately 20 minutes. A good and stable Internet connection is therefore mandatory!

STOP SUPPORT FOR iOS 9
To be able to support the latest iOS version 14.0 and newer we will stop supporting iOS 9. Users from devices with this iOS Version need to upgrade their operating system and download the latest version of our App at the upgraded device following the procedure described.
