The creation of a CRS Rescuesheet
Every month, we update our database with new vehicles, from passenger cars to buses, from trucks to scooters. Adding a new vehicle to the Crash Recovery System is a eleborate process. We want to take you through this process by giving you a glimpse behind the scenes. Let’s take the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo as an example.
After collecting all relevant safety information about the vehicle for the emergency services, we can start drawing the model in AutoCad. The contours of the top and side views of the vehicle are plotted. Then, layer by layer, the components are added in the correct location. These include (in the case of the Taycan) the battery pack, the high voltage cable, the airbags, and the B-pillar reinforcement. Photos are taken of the vehicle, which in almost all cases is physically present on-site, to provide information about the various components with supporting photographic material.
The information, the drawings and the photographic material are finally collected into one interactive Rescusheet as you know it. The CRS-ID for the Rescue Sheet is linked to a registration number, chassis number and QR code so that the vehicle can be searched for in several ways in the Crash Recovery System. Now that the Rescuesheet is ready, the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo will be included in the CRS database update for September 2021.
